Project Hub Recycling Bin for Waste Sorting

Project Hub Recycling Bin became an essential part of our office when more project teams began working from a shared collaboration space instead of separate departments. Designers, engineers, project managers and clients gathered in the same area throughout the day, bringing printed documents, sample packaging, coffee cups and bottles that quickly accumulated between discussions.

At first, recyclable materials were left wherever the current task was taking place. Empty bottles remained beside whiteboards, printed drafts covered worktables and packaging from newly delivered samples stayed in corners until someone had time to collect everything. Since the project hub was always active, people rarely left the space just to recycle a few everyday items.

We initially assumed that the existing recycling stations elsewhere in the office were sufficient. After watching how teams actually used the project hub, we realised that people preferred to stay together while collaborating instead of walking away to dispose of recyclable materials.

The solution was to introduce a dedicated recycling bin directly inside the project hub. Team members could separate paper, bottles and packaging without interrupting brainstorming sessions, planning meetings or design reviews.

Within a short time, the difference became noticeable. Worktables stayed available for drawings and laptops, recyclable materials disappeared as soon as they were no longer needed and the project hub remained organised between meetings without additional effort.

One colleague remarked that the space always seemed ready for the next team to begin working. Nothing about the furniture or meeting schedule had changed. The improvement simply came from placing recycling exactly where collaboration naturally happened.

That experience showed us that project hubs are dynamic environments where ideas, documents and materials constantly move between people. When recycling is available in the centre of that activity, keeping the workspace organised becomes a natural part of every project rather than a separate task.
