Entryway Recycling Bin for Waste Sorting

Entryway Recycling Bin became an important part of our office after we noticed that the entrance generated more recyclable waste than anyone expected. Every morning employees arrived carrying takeaway coffee cups, newspapers, parcels and shopping bags, while visitors often entered with brochures, bottles or packaging they no longer needed. The first few minutes inside the building created a surprising amount of recyclable material.

Originally, people walked further into the office before looking for a recycling point. Many simply held onto empty cups until they reached their desks, while others placed recyclable items on reception counters or entrance tables because there was no convenient place to sort them immediately.

At first, we believed the entrance should remain as uncluttered as possible and that recycling belonged somewhere deeper inside the office. After watching how people naturally moved through the building, we realised the entrance itself was exactly where the first recycling decisions were made.

Instead of expecting everyone to carry waste through the office, we introduced a dedicated recycling bin directly in the entryway. People could separate paper, bottles and packaging before continuing to meetings or workstations, without interrupting their routine.

The effect became visible within a few days. The reception area stayed cleaner throughout the day, entrance tables no longer collected abandoned cups and visitors immediately understood where recyclable materials belonged without asking for directions.

One colleague remarked that the office felt more welcoming even though nothing about the furniture or décor had changed. Looking around, the reason was simple. The entrance remained organised because recyclable materials disappeared at the moment people walked through the door.

That experience showed us that the entryway is more than just a passage into the building. It is the first place where daily habits begin. When recycling is available at the entrance, keeping the office organised becomes part of arriving rather than something people remember later.
